Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Issues and Family Caregiving

The caregiving experience of LGBT people in our society crosses both cohort and cultural boundaries, ranging from younger care- givers caring for former partners, neighbors, and friends who facilitated their coming-out processes who have now grown older, to older LGBT caregivers caring for long-time partners or friends. LGBT individuals also take on the role of providing care for their parents or other older biological family members. LGBT caregivers represent a diverse group in terms of ethnicity, race, language, national origin and physical challenges.
